Graham Rayman’s “The NYPD Tapes: Inside Bed-Stuy’s 81st Precinct,” chronicles hundreds of recorded hours of cops talking about their jobs between June 1, 2008, and October 31, 2009. Here’s today’s outtake.
From the October 18 roll call, the story of the time someone stole the shoes off a wounded man at a shooting scene:
“I turn around, I’m telling people to stay away from him,” he says. “The guy’s shoes are gone. I turn around literally five seconds and the guy’s shoes are gone. Well, use your head. Why are his shoes gone? Obviously, there’s some contraband or something in there that they took the guy’s shoes.”
