Odean Pope Saxophone Choir

The tenor saxophonist presents a gift to anyone who loves collective whomp. His phalanx of reed players creates a swarm of sound, as their Locked & Loaded so convincingly indicated a couple years ago. Bent bop themes, lotsa blues, and enough squall to keep the exclamation points flying it’s all there. The leader’s bluster has been compelling since his Max Roach days, but the inclusion of James Carter (in the Godzilla role?) assures there’ll be plenty of action.
