Former Olympic athlete Nicola Adams recently revealed why she and OnlyFans star girlfriend Ella Baig decided to call it quits after seven years together. The couple met on a night out and began dating in 2018.
Baig recalled: “I remember being outside the club with my friend, and I’d had a couple of drinks. But someone took a picture of her and I turned around and you know when you’re drunk and you do that loud whisper… I turned to my friend and went, ‘Why is everyone asking for pictures of her, she’s not even that fit?’ She heard me say that but she liked the fact I didn’t know who she was, as rude as I was. We carried on talking for quite a while and it went on from there.”
It went on for 7 years from there, actually. And a few years in, the couple decided they wanted to raise a child together
The 42-year-old Adams and 27-year-old Baig turned to fertility treatments to conceive their first and only child, a son named Taylor in 2022. They chose to use a sperm donor who resembled Baig, and Baig carried the baby until he was born via C-section. While the couple seemed happy as they made the rounds and shared the happy news of their son, in reality they were already seeking therapy for support for their relationship.
Adams has been in the spotlight for years after winning gold in 2012 at the Olympic Games in London, going on to defend the title in 2016 at the Olympic Games in Rio. She chose to retire in 2019 after winning the WBO flyweight title. She stopped back into the public eye on the reality show Strictly Come Dancing in 2020 where she competed in the show’s first same-sex couple. Her partner was professional dancer Katya Jones, though the duo only made it four weeks. They were forced to drop out after Jones tested positive for COVID-19.
But as Adams spotlight may have dimmed, Baig’s was brightening. Baig turned her modeling career into an OnlyFans career, and it was that decision that ultimately led to the demise of their relationship. Despite trying therapy, the two announced their split this year. And Adams opened up about it as she explained that the pornographic nature of Baig’s career impacted things.
“I have always been incredibly supportive of Ella’s career and the choices she has made, including her work on OnlyFans. However, as much as I respect what she does, I can’t deny that it has had an impact on our relationship.”
Despite the breakup, the two are committed to successfully co-parenting their son. Adams added: “Right now, we’re navigating this as openly and honestly as possible, with the priority being our little boy.”
Adams spokesperson confirmed this in a statement: “Nicola and Ella have shared an incredible journey together, full of love, growth, and resilience. After much thoughtful reflection and important therapy work, they have made the difficult decision to separate. Their priority remains their son, Taylor, and they are committed to co-parenting with love and respect.”
