Can successful OnlyFans creators have healthy and happy relationships? It’s a question many creators are struggling with as they navigate dating, engagements, and marriage while creating adult content for the subscription based platform.
Australian creator Annie Knight isn’t worried about it as she prepares to wed her boyfriend, construction worker Henry Brayshaw. After announcing the engagement, Knight said about her decision to continue creating pornographic content with other men: “If I was sneakily going and sleeping with these guys then he’d be jealous for sure and upset, but it’s the fact that he knows that it’s my job and that it’s important.”’
She went on, “It’s very separate. It’s not the same filming with random guys as it is when I’m intimate with him. It’s such a different experience and I’ve told him that so many times, so he’s just very understanding.”
But even the best laid plans don’t always work out. Olympic athlete Nicola Adams recently shared that her girlfriend’s OnlyFans career did impact their relationship. Adams and 27-year-old Ella Baig had been together for years and even had a son together before announcing their split. Adams said of the breakup: “I have always been incredibly supportive of Ella’s career and the choices she has made, including her work on OnlyFans. However, as much as I respect what she does, I can’t deny that it has had an impact on our relationship.”
44-year-old Kerry Katona referenced Baig and Adams’s breakup in a recent interview. The English television personality turned OnlyFans creator split from her fiancé Ryan Mahoney last year, though she swears that her OnlyFans account didn’t impact their relationship. Katona is a mother of five who has been on the platform since 2020, and she makes millions a year on the site.
So for Katona, a partner that is supportive of her career is a non-negotiable. When asked how her career could affect her relationships in the future, Katona said: “I’ve not been in a relationship since then so I don’t know the potential problems it can cause, but if I do meet someone new, it is something they’re going to need to accept. It’s what I do and how I make money for my kids, so they’d need to understand that.”
It seems that some OnlyFans creators do find partners that understand.
Denise Richards’ husband, Aaron Phyphers, helps her run her OnlyFans page. When asked about how he feels about her account, she shared: “He’s so supportive. He knows what men love, and he’ll go through all the photos and say, ‘This is good. Do this. This is what guys like.’”
But a partner doesn’t have to be actively involved to be supportive or understanding. As one OnlyFans creator on Reddit explained, “My page is my business. My boyfriend doesn’t ask to sit in on Zoom meetings, so why would he need to see my DMs?”
Because at the end of the day, these OnlyFans creators are still working. That work may involve nudity or even sex, but it’s work. And to have a healthy relationship both partners must understand that.
