‘Paganfest America Part II’

by

As if strategically designed to enrage PETA activists, Paganfest America Part II collects a roving Renaissance fair of metal bands who glorify the pre-Christian era bacchanalia of fur, flutes, and fermented refreshments. A promo pic of violin-and-accordion-toting Finnish headliners Korpiklaani, whose boisterous drinking anthems share more with the Dropkick Murphys than Black Sabbath, depicts five out of six members wearing leather vests and six out of six wearing black leather pants. The distinguishing facto between bands is their pagan beliefs: Ireland’s Primordial go Celtic, Moonsorrow tap Finnish mythology, Canadians Blackguard write their own myths, and New Jersey’s Swashbuckle wish they were pirates.
