Right. So that haggard, emaciated, disintegrating man in the photo above is Phil Spector, pictured sometime around day one of the 19 years to life he’s serving in a California state prison for murdering the actress Lana Clarkson in the foyer of his gun-riddled mansion. According to the Smoking Gun, Spector’s signature late-period hairstyle–a kind of brillo pad of towering white afro–was in fact a “fright wig.” And in North Kern State Prison, no fright wigs are allowed. In other news, Phil Spector is not quite five feet tall.
