SKYFALL UNDER THE STARS

by

“This is the end. . . . Close your eyes and count to 10.” Then again, you wouldn’t want to miss Skyfall, this summer’s final open-air movie in Williamsburg’s East River State Park. Specializing in wrenching action sequences, Daniel Craig’s James Bond takes punishment like no other. In this installment he’s shot off a moving train and “dies,” only to re-emerge with a still-visible wound and ascend into the heavens to kick ass on a Shanghai skyscraper. Maybe Superman hasn’t cornered the Christ-figure market. Although during the climax, as he makes a stronghold of his childhood home, Bond does better channeling Macauley Culkin.
