Rare is the jukebox that celebrates the work of such little known greats as Zic Speck and the Spectones (“Operation Self Destruct”) or the poet/country gentleman Hank Champion (“I Walk the Streets, Richest Man Who Ever Lived”). Rarer yet is this full operation of Sonny Smith’s Cosmoramic, filled with 100 fictional 7-inches, titled and recorded by Smith (A and B-sides), their covers illustrated by an array of artists, and on display at the Cinders Gallery through September 5th. Smith-a writer and artist on break from his underhyped and wonderful band, the Sunsets-performs on this opening night.
