The Little People

by

There are no small parts, only small actors—and some very, very small auditoriums. In this annual celebration of big drama and tiny stages, the 9th annual International Toy Theater Festival takes over St. Ann’s Warehouse to present plays performed on tabletops, in suitcases, or in the palm of one’s hand. Among this year’s offerings are Dutch Company Hotel Modern’s Kamp, featuring a mini re-creation of Auschwitz, an evocation of the Finnish national landscape, a re-creation of JFK’s assassination, a chronicle of Coney Island, mermaids, whales, hermaphrodites, and the itsy-bitsy exhibits of the Temporary Toy Theater Museum. The festival kicks off with a parade, including numerous miniature floats and a full marching band.

Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: May 30. Continues through June 13, 2010
