Whole Foods may not be coming to Gowanus anytime in the near future, but On Monday, Union Market will bring its own brand of aspirational grocery shopping to the neighborhood a few blocks north.
Cobble Hill Blog reports that the Park Slope-based chainlet is opening its third location on Court Street, in a space formerly occupied by Blockbuster Video. The store, whose website addresses its somewhat astronomical prices with a curt “[c]heap food costs less because it’s worth less…we won’t sell it to you,” will offer a wide range of organically correct produce, cheese, meats, seafood, dry goods, and prepared foods. But unlike at the Trader Joe’s just up the street, it won’t be cheap, got it?
