When Relatives Ask For Money…

by

…what do you do?

How do you respond in a way that will keep both your conscience and your checkbook intact?

I’m not talking about relatives you totally adore, mind you.

Or those who have simply had a spell of bad luck that you might actually feel for.

I mean folks who have squandered everything they had with inordinate, unrealistic bouts of spending and who will continue to do so the second they get their hands on more cash.

According to them, they’re always just $1,000 away from getting a house or nabbing their car back.

And they promise they’ll pay you back in six months and they’ll even give you a post-dated check to cover it.

Do you enable these sad sacks by bailing them out, time and time again?

Or simply pretend you didn’t get the message?
