Riff Raff’s not on the leak tip, but we do have the (siss) sass to kick out the occasional exclusive jam. Here is a link to the full version of LCD Soundsystem’s “Daft Punk is Playing at My House (Soulwax Shibuya Daft Mix)”, the heretofore unreleased Soulwax remix that boasts actual Daft Punk sounds. The Belgian duo snuck two minutes of the track into their 2 January 2005 Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1, but this full version has the obvious benefits of build time and complete picture. Homework and Discovery samples unobtrusively pepper the song’s slow, upward grind, as if Daft Punk are booting up their equipment and programming their (other people’s) loops for their set at Murphy’s crowded figurative abode. That’s two and a half minutes of pepper though, and the track releases like one massive sneeze. Yeah, this is one of those song title wordplay remixes, and most times they’re pretty bad. But I can’t help but think after hearing this that the album version of “Daft Punk” exists solely as an excuse to make this remix, the original’s hyper-literal but pretty fantastic end.
