Genesis 3:23 reads “Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken,” or it does in the King James version, anyway, and so, more or less, goes the new single by the Mountain Goats, “Genesis 3:23,” the chorus of which is “I used to live here.” There is a new Mountain Goats record, John Darnielle announced today, due October 6, called The Life of the World to Come, “twelve new songs: twelve hard lessons the Bible taught me, kind of.” Geeks like myself are off to go have fun with the rest of the tracklist, which is strictly biblical verses (always a good sign; may we recommend “I Corinthians 13:8-1”?), and is reproduced below.
