–Steven Tyler fell off the stage last night during Aerosmith’s gig at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota and had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital ten songs into their set. The 61-year-old frontman was dancing to entertain the crowd after the sound system failed during “Love in an Elevator” (see that song’s immortally cheesy video here). The band has been experiencing some hard luck this summer: they postponed seven shows last month when Tyler injured his hamstring in concert June 29th, guitarist Brad Whitford missed several shows after bumping his head while exiting his Ferrari, and bassist Tom Hamilton is missing the entire tour to undergo “non-invasive” surgery. The band hits Madison Square Garden September 14th. Tickets available now!
–A judge has delayed the sentencing of Chris Brown on his assault charge in order to ask Virginia authorities whether Brown could possibly do community service in the state. Brown, who pleaded guilty in June to assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna, will now be sentenced August 27th. In other Brown news, he turned up onstage Sunday at Lil Wayne’s America’s Most Wanted Tour stop in Virginia. He busted out some “Billie Jean” dance moves and Wayne called him “the next Michael Jackson.” We think the jury might still be out on that one.
–Tickets for Regina Spektor’s October 14th gig at Radio City Music Hall are on presale (Brooklyn Vegan has the password). The general public sale starts Monday at 10 a.m. Spektor is also playing a free gig at the Union Square Barnes and Noble on August 18th.
