–Yesterday, we reported the existence of a new Weezer track, the punchy “(If You’re Wondering if I Want You To) I Want You To.” Today, Weezer announced the title of their new album, and it’s Raditude. Yes, Raditude. Longtime Weez webman Karl Koch writes on the band’s site: “‘Raditude”??’ WHAT is ‘Raditude’? WHO is ‘Raditude’? WHERE is ‘Raditude’? WHEN is ‘Raditude’? HOW is ‘Raditude’? DONDE ES ‘Raditude,'” and so on. It’s been confirmed that Raditude, which hits stores October 25th, was produced by Jacknife Lee and Butch Walker. We’ll continue scouring all post-Maladroit albums to find out when exactly the old Rivers Cuomo died and was replaced by an evil, sarcastic demon who pens numbers like “Can’t Stop Partying,” “The Girl Got Hot,” and “I’m Your Daddy”. The band plays Jones Beach on August 25th with blink 182.
–This is cool: Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr. will play together Terminal 5 on November 21st. Tickets are $35 and go on sale Friday, August 21st.
–Beanie Sigel was arrested and charged with marijuana possession early Sunday morning on the way to a private show in New Jersey, the Burlington County Times reports. The rapper and two other men were charged with possession of under 50 grams of pot on their way to a gig at Kelly’s Bar, a small local tavern where Sigel was set to perform. The performance was canceled as a result. The 35-year-old Philly rapper, who releases The Broad Street Bully on September 1st, has a lengthy criminal past. He was acquitted of murder charges in 2005 relating to a shooting in West Philadelphia. The worst thing about this story is obviously not that Sigel was arrested, but that he’s gigging at dive bars in Jersey.
–The allegedly frozen corpse of Michael Jackson will be buried on Saturday, August 29th, on what would have been Jackson’s 51st birthday, in a private ceremony at Glendale Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California. Meanwhile, CNN Reports Jackson’s mother, Katherine, is considering filing a wrongful death lawsuit against concert promotor AEG Live, which had a “very, very active role in Michael’s life during the last six months,” according to Jackson family attorney Burt Levitch.
