Klaus Nomi was an eccentric fellow from Germany via outer space who wore black butterfly lips and new wave outfits and sang operatic arias in a piercing falsetto that could smash your cocktail glass.
He was quite the downtown sensation in the ’70s and early ’80s–there was even a SNL appearance backing up David Bowie–until sadly succumbing to AIDS in ’83.
But he lives on.
Last night at the Tribeca Film Festival, his co-performer Joey Arias revealed that he’s meeting with a producer to do a feature fim about Klaus, staring Alan Cumming.
