Tom Colicchio may think “the mobile restaurant thing” is the worst current food trend, but that likely won’t be much of a determent to the organizers of the NYC Food Truck Rally.
Scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 22, at Grand Army Plaza, the event is the first of its kind in New York, and will feature upward of 24 participants. Many of the usual suspects — Taïm Mobile, the Treats Truck, the Red Hook Lobster Pound, and Kelvin Slush, to name but a few — will be in attendance. The rep for the Prospect Park Alliance, which is sponsoring the rally, told The Brooklyn Paper that it will be “an opportunity to truly enjoy the food trucks,” but if the Vendy Awards taught us anything, it’s that opportunities for true enjoyment tend to be synonymous with caloric catastrophe. But that’s OK: Gout‘s in fashion these days!
