The Truck America Festival: Wye Oak, Okkervil River, And The Hold Steady, All In One Place Upstate

by

Those of you who want to extend your summer past Labor Day might do well to check out the Truck America festival, a three-day music/comedy outing at the Full Moon Resort in Big Indian, N.Y., that has so far booked Baltimore bliss duo Wye Oak, as well as Okkervil River, the Hold Steady, and Ra Ra Riot as its entertainment. (About 30 other music acts and comedians will be added to the lineup over the coming weeks.)

The fest runs from September 9 to 11 and is an offshoot of the Truck Festival in the UK—and if you buy your ticket early enough, you can get festival access for the whole weekend for the low price of $99. More on that here; lodging costs more, whether you’re camping or staying at the resort or emulating this guy: “Last year, Martha’s Vineyard folksinger Willy Mason even brought a load of people in a school bus and a geodesic dome to sleep in!” Try and top that, now.
