Located in the heart of Astoria, The Queens Kickshaw began as a neighborhood spot for coffee, craft beer, and cider. But over the course of the last three years, it has morphed into a destination for its food, a well-rounded menu of comfort food with a twist that happens to be vegetarian. Sample the slew of fancied-up grilled cheeses, or dig into dishes from across the global culinary canon, like the savory Japanese pancake okonomiyaki. The kitchen also turns out macaroni and cheese and potpies (its late-night menu is full of items that are especially satisfying after hours of heavy drinking — though, ahem, we really wouldn’t know anything about that). And TQK’s most inventive work is on display during its prix-fixe cider dinners.
