Promoted as a “pro-cop rally” where “pro-cop banners are welcome,” the “Thank You NYPD” rally went down at 5 p.m. on Friday, December 19 in front of City Hall as a reaction from people who were frustrated with the anger directed at the NYPD in the wake of massive city-wide protests following a Staten Island grand jury’s decision not to indict the NYPD officer who killed Eric Garner. As you’d expect there were plenty of NYPD protesters also there to counter-act everyone with “Blue Lives Matter” signs.
