Any organization that claims to be “where Downtown art skronk and Appalachian meat murder ballads acquire Brill Building panache,” is an organization we’d trust to curate an art show. The organization in question is WFMU radio, and the show is a benefit for the 50-year-old commercial-free station’s new, much-needed antenna. Opening tonight, the show/fixed-price sale features works in a variety of media and by artists both acclaimed (Cindy Sherman, James Sienna, Gelitin) and less well known (Dan Funderburgh, Matthieu Gafsou). Like the station itself, things will be pretty “free-form,” a/k/a eclectic, with additional pieces for sale online.
Mondays-Saturdays, 5 p.m. Starts: Dec. 5. Continues through Dec. 13, 2008
