The Marvelous One has never enjoyed the runaway success of the artists he’s produced (Avril Lavigne, Fall Out Boy, even Lindsay Lohan), but he’s always managed to save some of the best songs for himself. His last disc, Sycamore Meadows, bounced between Tom Petty-like rock for rock’s sake, syrupy Jakob Dylan pop, and lush, Rufus Wainwright-worthy ballads (not to mention a Pink cameo). Then again, the beauty of Walker’s music—and not that of his tributaries—has always been that he doesn’t have to be just one thing. With the Films.
