Davila 666

Davila 666 has owned up to the many “Menudo on drugs” and “Puerto Rican Ramones” comparisons, and it would be hard not to. Like Menudo, they sing in Spanish and write songs with catchy pop melodies, and like the Ramones, they play rough, energetic punk rock. But there’s a spookier edge to them–the cover for their latest album, Tan Bajo, features a Puerto Rican Santeria motif, and the mystical voodoo vibe comes through in their dark tones. It’s not that the lyrics don’t matter, per se, but if you don’t hablan espanol, don’t sweat it.
