A co-production of the National Ballet of Canada and London’s Royal Ballet, Christopher Wheeldon’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland had its premiere at the Royal Opera House in 2011; it launches the Joyce Theater’s season at the Chelsea bastion’s uptown annex and celebrates the Canadian troupe’s first visit to New York since 2005. Alice features a cinematic score by British composer Joby Talbot played live by a 64-piece orchestra, and Tony-winner Bob Crowley’s Wonderland-worthy sets and costumes. Swirling video assists the story’s many transitions out of ordinary life, and NBC’s artistic director Karen Kain provides triple casts of international stars in all the major roles.
Tuesdays-Sundays, 7:30 p.m. Starts: Sept. 9. Continues through Sept. 14, 2014
