The most fun you could have on a beach with your clothes on, this installment of the Beach at Governors Island concert series features good-time indie-rock bands Grizzly Bear and the Walkmen, as well as the endlessly quizzical, arty, post-no-wave keyboard clangers Gang Gang Dance. It’s the best way to see these local bands in something close to their native environs but without a sweaty subway ride filled with smelly hipsters (expect a sweaty boat instead) or latecomers pushing past you and spilling your beer. Plus, what better way to watch the sun go down than with Grizzly’s Ed Droste whinging it deep into New Jersey?
