HERE COMES THE SUN

by

Summer may be over, but the sun-soaked warm-and-fuzzy feeling lives on in the music of Delorean, whose Subiza is shaping up to be 2010’s Merriweather Post Pavilion. Unlike Animal Collective, these Barcelona boys seem pretty uninterested in upholding any kind of vaunted psych-rock legacy; their best tracks remind me more of late-’80s/early-’90s dance-soul (think Lisa Stansfield and CeCe Peniston) than they do the Grateful Dead. (Perhaps it’s no coincidence that Delorean’s “Real Love” shares a title with an album by Stansfield.) That said, the indie kids can’t seem to get enough; don’t be surprised if you end up pictured on somebody’s blog tomorrow. With Brooklyn’s goofy, bloopy Lemonade, and Light Pollution, from Chicago.
