What is considered cheating?
It all depends on who you ask. But it is a question that has been coming up more often these days as the venues to cheat have become more easily accessible. And one particular venue is causing some drama in relationships like 20-year-old Australian Maddi Miller.
Miller, a content creator also on OnlyFans, opened up in a recent interview about her decision to break up with her boyfriend after finding him scrolling through explicit content on OnlyFans.
Explaining in the interview that it felt like a betrayal, made even worse because Miller actually knew the OnlyFans creator that her boyfriend was viewing. She called it “a huge breach of trust,” and added “I wouldn’t be asking his mates for nudes. It’s the same thing. It’s betrayal.”
Miller, who earns nearly $20,000 a month on the platform, said that it wasn’t that he was watching that kind of content, explaining: “If my ex had maybe asked to watch some content together, or he had expressed that he was curious, then we could have had a conversation about it. But the fact that he was deliberately looking at porn created by people I knew was not okay.”
She added that her now ex-boyfriend was trying to hide his scrolling, explaining, “I only found out because I saw it on his phone one night over his shoulder. He tried to cover it up, and said his mate sent him a link that he opened it without knowing what it was.”
But perhaps the real issue is that the ex-boyfriend refused to admit that this wasn’t the first time.
“But once I investigated further, I could see in his emails that he had subscribed to multiple women that I knew. The timestamps on the emails showed that he had been laying in bed next to me while he did it,” she continued.
While obviously Miller feels differently about OnlyFans usage than other non-creators might, as she actually knows some of these creators being an OnlyFans creator herself. But how do others feel when they catch their partner using OnlyFans?
A recent study in Australia found that more than half of women polled agreed that using OnlyFans is absolutely cheating, with just less than half claiming that “it depends on the interaction.” Less than ten percent consider it normal.
But the question is being debated, and Reddit forums offer multiple perspectives on the issue.
One user wrote: “My wife and I find no issue with porn, in moderation of course, but OnlyFans is definitely cheating to us. Paying for a specific person versus just pulling something up makes a huge difference.”
Another chimed in: “I would consider it cheating. If my husband spent money to see someone naked, yes, to me that is cheating.”
Another man added: “Just asked my wife, we both agree it’s not cheating to subscribe and look, but messaging is where it changes.”
So is OnlyFans cheating? It really depends on you and your relationship, but considering how popular the platform is, it might be a good idea to have that conversation with your significant other(s) so that everyone is on the same page.
