Does Minnesota have a new senator yet? About two weeks after the Obama-high wore off last November, we kind of stopped watching election news. But there was a minute or two that we were really into the Land of 10,000 Lakes’ senatorial race, when it looked like comic-turned-politician Al Franken was about to win a new job. (Actually, it still looks that way, five months later.) Whether you’re up on the latest or stopped caring about what happened in the far-away Midwest back in ’08, Chris Hegedus and Nick Doob’s 2004 documentary God Spoke is a fascinating look at Franken’s entry into his current, contested career path.
