Though I went to Mini-Mutek in May to see someone else, Vincent Lemieux, a fine techno DJ from Montreal, made me forget about that other person. His set was pretty and tough in parts: airy techno with just a dash of funk to sustain a groove for a few hours. Afterwards I felt refreshed. He is playing the Bunker with his weekly partner DJ MightyKat. They have a party up in that Canada place called Dizzy that’s apparently quite a doozy. Fri @ 10, Subtonic, 107 Norfolk, 212-358-7501

You know, it’s just like the gods to do this to me. I finally get a vaca, and my two favorite DJs possibly ever play P.S.1 at the same time. Yes, Josh Wink and Stacey Pullen make semi-regular visits to the city, but they never do it together and they never do it at a venue as pleasant as the outdoor urban beach at P.S.1. Wink is one of the most masterful mixers I ever seen, and his timing always amplifies the impact of the records he chooses. Can I convince the gods to bring them for an encore, in, say, two weeks? Oh yeah, that guy Brennan Green, superfunkyfragilicious DJ of Balihu Records, ain’t no slouch either. Sat @ 3, P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center, 22-25 Jackson Ave, Long Island City, Qns, 718-784-2084

Tronic Treatment is back for a mondo five-year anniversary celebration. The long-running party, which was at Baktun and Guernica for many years, went on hiatus, appearing only sporadically at the big venues. But for this occasion, Viktor Mizo’s bringing John Acquaviva, formerly of Plus 8, Richie Hawtin’s partner in crime and Final Scratch. Acquaviva laces his techno with sexy house touches; he is not as apt to bang out the beats as some of his techno brethren, recognizing the benefits of subtlety.
