PUT A BIRD ON IT

by

Since its debut on IFC last year, the satiric sketch-comedy show Portlandia has skewered just about every absurd yuppie, hippie, and hipster stereotype in the book. Now, just in time for the holidays, Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein are releasing Portlandia: A Guide for Visitors, a book on everything you’d ever need to know if you visited this magical place “where young people go to retire.” From a list of activities for older adults who still think they’re in their twenties to suggestions for seagan-friendly restaurants, the book (“printed on 130 percent recycled paper in a peanut-free, smoke-free plant by local workers”) will be discussed tonight at Barnes & Noble in Union Square with Armisen in person. Although his co-star won’t be joining him, the lovely Eleanor Friedberger will be on hand to play a few gluten-free songs
