Just a programming note today as we wait to reveal tomorrow morning’s entry in our countdown…
This Saturday, New York-area enturbulators, hackers, and don’t-call-them-members of Anonymous will be making their annual “beach party” at the 46th Street Scientology “org,” just off Times Square.
From 5 to 7:15 pm, expect to see a large gathering of mostly young, loud, obnoxious, and variously becostumed and disguised protestors standing behind barriers across the street from the Scientology building.
They tell me they’re going to turn the sidewalk there into a beach scene, complete with “sand, lawnchairs, beach balls, and water:”
So get ready to put on your thickest skin and best beach wear as we party in the streets, laughing at and lampooning the cult across the street while we cause a scene that is wonderfully out of place, but distinctly New York.
Well, it’s been a fairly long time since we paid much attention to an Anonymous protest (ah, those great memories of 2008, how time flies…), but this one sounds just perverted enough that we’re going to show up with a notepad and a video camera.
Maybe John Carmichael, the New York org’s president, will even come out and tell us he smells tanning lotion or something.
