The Apostolic Congress speaks.

Just got a letter from my friend Pastor Upton. I’m on his distribution list, to which he sends out “action alerts” with the Apostolic Congress seal, designed to mimic the Great Seal of the United States. (I learned some time ago that it’s against the law to mimic the Great Seal of the United States, by the way — probably to prevent what Pastor Upton always does: try to make it look to his followers that his statements are sent out in coordination with the White House.)

I didn’t know about the 40 days of prayer and fasting. Was it a big nationwide movement? CNN doesn’t report on this sort of thing.

Congratulations:

President and Mrs. Bush

We wish to thank all of the candidates for a spirited debate.

Senators Kerry and Edwards fought a hard and bitter campaign and they are to be commended for their efforts.

I believe that the President has now been handed a mandate by the electorate and that message is very clear in the way this election has ended.

America will no longer stand for Senators that obstruct a nominee just because he is a Christian.

Mr. President we are behind you in the return of America the beautiful and the bountiful and we understand that we must remain one nation under God.

America is a Godly nation and this has become evident by the decision of 11 States to define marriage as that of one man and one woman. Eleven states approved state Defense of Marriage (DOMA) initiatives on the ballot, with several in key battleground states, such as Ohio, Michigan, and Arkansas.

America is a Nation that is unashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and we are proud that our President passes the faith along.

I am proud to say our Church was part of forty days of fasting and prayer leading up to this election.

As I was praying, I happened to see the President as he was speaking to reporters just after he cast his ballot in Crawford, Texas and I must admit I was a little more than concerned of what the outcome of this election might be. I looked just behind the President on his right side in the distance and I saw a Police officer with folded arms as in the shape of a shield and the most amazing sight I have ever witnessed: his tie and pockets formed a cross. I knew then that President Bush would be reelected.

Mr. President, I look forward to the next four years.

Robert G. Upton
