What the Hell Are You Doing Here? You Should Be at 4Knots!

by

According to legend, the East River passes through South Street Seaport at a speed of four knots. This little tidbit provided us here at the Voice with a perfect title for our annual shindig in downtown Manhattan.

Welcome to the second 4Knots Festival – an all-day, all-ages totally free musical showdown where you should be right now instead of reading this article.Yes, ya heard us: get off Twitter, sign off Facebook, stop Instagramming brunch and head to the shore.

The video provided above is from last year’s Festival, which featured such names as Oberhofer, the Black Angels, Titus Andronicus and Davila 666. As you can see, an absolute party was in full effect at the South Street Seaport. And this year hopes to be bigger and better. There’ll be food, booze and a whole ton of groovin’.

Starting at around noon Eastern Standard Time, the lineup runs like this on the main stage:
12:15pm – The Smiling Lies
12:30pm – Fast Years
1:30pm – Nick Waterhouse
2:30pm – Bleached
3:30pm – Hospitality
4:30pm – Crocodiles
5:30pm – The Drums
6:30pm – Archers of Loaf
But, wait, there’s more… on the Skippers Stage!
1pm: Doldrums
2pm: Devin
3pm: Team Spirit
4pm: Delicate Steve
After al of this, you might be audio-ed out. But that’d be a real shame because the 4Knots After-Party at Beekman Beer Garden Beach Club is dropping heavy sounds to keep you up literally all night. With spins by Brooklyn DJ Jonathan Toubin, the Black Lips, Kid Congo Powers and a few special guests will be playing the hits after sundown.
For directions to 4Knots, here’s a link for directions. Oh, if you’re biking, we also have a bike valet for you, which is like… a valet for your bikes. Welcome to paradise.
