Eric Richter: It’s close to impossible for me to pick my favorite album. Having that said, there are a handful of records that changed my life in one way or another.
I was reminded of one when an old friend of mine posted the question, “Name one perfectly produced record.” The first record that came to mind was Swervedriver’s Mezcal Head. Producer Alan Moulder knew exactly what to do with Swervedriver’s enormous swirling guitar sound and together they created my favorite shoegaze album of all-time. It’s both unrelenting and beautiful.
The influence of this album can be heard in my guitar playing and songwriting from Christie Front Drive to my most recent project Suburban Eyes. I will never lose that feeling. ❖
