WOLF PACK

When Philadelphia-based author Max G. Morton was growing up in Tampa, a writer’s life was the farthest thing from his mind. As he told our own Lit Seen columnist Zach Baron, “You’d get a book by Hubert Selby Jr. or Henry Miller or someone like that. Who am I to compete with them? I’m a 13-year-old fuck-up from Florida who’s sniffing glue in my room.” But Morton’s 2007 book Indestructible Wolves of the Apocalypse Junkyard, the first installment of Morton’s autobiographical misadventures, proved he has the style to be a contender. Tonight, he’ll read from his latest, Looking for the Magic, published by Heartworm Press, for which Dominick Fernow (a/k/a Prurient) has created “a violent and demented ambient soundscape.” Also on the program are writers Jonathan Shaw and John Joseph, visual works by Bete Noir with a soundtrack by F. Sean Martin, and live music by Philadelphia band Salvation. Oh, and all the free PBR you can drink!
