Bronx Rebels Gun for Party Chief Rivera

Having handily elected most of its candidates in Tuesday’s primary, the Bronx Democratic “Rainbow Rebellion” is gunning for local party boss Assemblyman Jose Rivera. “The Bronx right now under the current leadership is laughable,” chief Rebel and Assemblyman Ruben Diaz tells the New York Sun. “They’re laughing at us from the outside. We’re looking to repair that.” Fellow Rebel and Tuesday victor Michael Benjamin (pictured) tells West Bronx Blog, “I believe change is in the air.” The Party has a meeting Monday and political consultants interviewed by the Daily News see trouble for Rivera if the Rebels can manage to put his leadership to a vote.
