Staten Island’s Molinari to Sue Over Term Limits

Everybody wants to get in on the act. First, lawsuits were announced against Bloomberg’s term-limits overturn by a group of schoolteachers and by Councilmembers Tish James and Bill de Blasio; then Malcolm Smith said the State Senate would consider a bill requiring term limits be put to a referendum; now the Staten Island Advance says ex-Staten Island Borough President Guy Molinari wants in, and will join the suit brought in Brooklyn Federal Court by James, De Blasio, Councilman Charles Barron, Public Advocate Betsy Gotbaum, and NYPIRG against the Mayor’s plan.

Having helped scuttle Bob Straniere’s late Congressional campaign, the former Beep is apparently feeling his oats, though he won’t be on hand when the group announces their suit outside City Hall this morning. He says the overturn approved by the Council “runs contrary to the very idea of democracy.”
