The owner of the car that ran down city employee Erinn Phelan and her friend Alma Guerrero this weekend, then split, has turned herself in. Cindy Jasmin, 31, thought to be the woman on this surveillance video still, is meeting this afternoon with detectives.
Police had been looking for Jasmin and had even been laying for her outside her parents’ home. Jasmin is said to be at the meeting with lawyers.
Phelan, a coordinator with Mayor Bloomberg’s NYC Civic Corps, was left brain dead and Guerrero badly injured in the early-morning rundown on Flatbush Avenue. The Acura Legend that hit them was identified and found abandoned nearby.
Cops say the car is Jasmin’s; it remains to be determined whether she was driving it at the time of the incident.
The Post says Jasmin was involved in an auto-pedestrian collision 10 years ago, and later had her license suspended and, still later, was charged with driving with a suspended license.
