A “member” (we’re not supposed to call them that) of Anonymous Berlin has claimed a big victory over Scientologist celebrity Tom Cruise, who agreed, after first refusing, to sign his Guy Fawkes mask at a red-carpet event, seen in the video above.
Anonymous members (there’s that word again) often show up at Scientology protests wearing the masks, made famous in the movie V for Vendetta. And Tom Cruise is no dummy — as a high-level and committed Scientologist, he’s well aware of what the masks represent, a mass movement dedicated to exposing and protesting against his religion.
Which makes what he does in the video all the more charming.
At about the 19-second mark, the Anon asks that Cruise sign his mask, and Cruise appears to turn him down.
The mask is then taken away by a security guard, and the Anon pleads to get it back. It’s hard to tell, but apparently Cruise then asks for the mask to return it.
At that point, in the Anon’s words, he “lovebombed” Cruise to get him to sign it.
Cruise does him one better, drawing a peace symbol on the mask before signing it.
“Man, you’re cool. You’re really cool,” the Anon says.
You can say that again.
