Tom Cruise and Stacy Francis Singing Together on Scientology’s Ship Freewinds

by

If you’ve been following along with the drama around X Factor contestant Stacy Francis, you know that her entire past has come under inspection as her fans and detractors have attempted to sift truth from legend.

In particular, we have noted that Francis has been quiet about her long membership in the church of Scientology, including her performances aboard Scientology’s Freewinds ship in 2004 at a special 40th birthday celebration for the actor Tom Cruise. For years, videos of that performance have been available on the Internet in which Francis serenaded Cruise and Scientology leader David Miscavige.

Today, however, we were told that there was another portion of that birthday celebration which may never have been online before, and it’s the best part of the show! In the segment, Francis and Cruise sing together on their rendition of Bob Seger’s “Old Time Rock and Roll,” which of course famously appeared in Cruise’s breakout film, Risky Business. One of the friends of Runnin’ Scared uploaded that video to YouTube so we could make it public here. Enjoy!

The video does cut off that the end, and we’re told there was some damaged media at fault. But then, there’s an ending segment, in which Francis stands by as Cruise thanks his Scientology friends for his great birthday celebration…

Touching, isn’t it? It’s odd that today, Francis is keeping quiet about her Scientology now that she’s won a big following on X Factor. But our sources tell us that she was a frequent presence at Scientology’s Hollywood Celebrity Centre, where she was seen in the presence of Brandy (who had a brief flirtation with the church) and Chaka Khan (who we’re told has quietly been a longtime member).

Francis attended gala celebrations at the Celebrity Centre, including one during which she was photographed sitting with Louis Farrakhan, the Nation of Islam leader who has been advocating a partnership with Scientology for the last six years or so:

I’ve e-mailed Stacy, hoping she would tell us something about that experience on the Freewinds with Tom, and also about her involvement in Scientology in general. I’ll let you know if she gets back to me.
