In the midst of the great Juno mania of 2007, Adam Green’s former group, cutesy anti-folk duo the Moldy Peaches, got a lot of surreal mega-publicity. Unfortunately, a lot of this hype deflected attention from Green’s 2008 solo release, Sixes & Sevens, on which he’d written more mature and better songs (especially when compared to his 2003 ode to Jessica Simpson, which might be his biggest solo hit thanks to repeated VH1 samples). His latest, Minor Love, picks up where Sixes left off, and is even a bit more mellow—a very good thing. With Nickel Eye and the Dead Trees.
