Are New York’s Eleven Madison and Chicago’s Alinea Collaborating?

In a video posted last week, the chefs from Chicago’s Alinea (which was named the second best restaurant in North America) and Eleven Madison Park seem to be packing up their stuff and heading to a train station.

The cryptic teaser ends with “21st Century Ltd., Coming Soon.”

No one is really sure what this means, but according to the Facebook page where the video was posted, “the 21st Century Limited will run a brief engagement between New York and Chicago in September and October of 2012.”

Let’s look at some of the clues:

The 21st Century Limited references a luxury passenger train that ran between New York and Chicago during the first half of the 20th century.

According to the Alinea website, the restaurant “will be closed the week of October 10 through 14 for a private event.”

Nick Kokonas and Grant Achatz told the Chicago Tribune: “We’re excited to be working on a project with Will (Guidara), chef (Daniel) Humm, and the entire team at EMP.”
