Bill McHenry

Moving between barrages of notes machine-gunned at his audience and poetically placed series of ellipses lobbed into the crowd, the tenor saxophonist has more than one way to conduct a show. He also has a new band. Moving away from his usual compatriots (who populate the fetching new Ghosts of the Sun), this week McHenry throws down with Orrin Evans, Eric Revis, and Andrew Cyrille, an intergenerational conglomerate of agent provocateurs.
