First Gabourey Sidibe revealed that before she made it big, she ran into one of her idols, Joan Cusack, but Cusack wasn’t so comforting.
In fact, Cusack told Sidibe to get out of the biz because it’s so image-conscious!
That’s bizarre because Cusack herself is an unconventional type who has done well (two Oscar nominations)–though maybe she was just saying it as a reflection of the biases in the biz, in an attempt to protect Gabby from potential disappointment.
In any case, it’s a good thing the future Precious and C Word star didn’t listen.
I’m sure you’ve also heard about the other intergenerational showbiz war of words.
Rosie O’Donnell blogged that Lindsay Lohan isn’t right for the role of Liz Taylor in the upcoming Lifetime movie, and she needs a lot of help and time away before she can start acting again.
Lindsay bristled that Rosie should shut the heck up, later saying, “I know that I’m great, and I know that I know Liz Taylor really well.”
I thought it was Marilyn she was obsessed with.
In any case, Lindsay’s response was good, but I still agree with Rosie that more time off is needed before attempting more spotlight grabbing.
Respect your elders, Lindz–don’t just keep saying “I know”!
