You wouldn’t think becoming a prominent OnlyFans model would lead to a job in government, but that’s exactly what happened for Laura Martínez. The model, who has been vocally supportive of the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, is celebrating her new job while the public is questioning the decision.
Martínez signed a one-year contract with the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management in Colombia, set to receive 101,400,000 pesos for her services. (That’s roughly $24,350 in US dollars).
While the contract was granted last year, it wasn’t signed until January 21, more than four months later. That delay has outspoken Petro opponent and political activist Jairo Landino crying corruption. He pointed out the problem after accessing the Electronic System for Public Procurement – a site that the public can access.
Landino isn’t the only one crying foul. Others are speaking out because Martínez only graduated from high school and has no higher education. But Martínez defended herself, providing proof that she received a certificate in industrial engineering from the San José Higher Education Foundation. Though one could argue that the certificate still does not adequately prepare her for her new role within the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management in Colombia.
Martínez shared on X: “If the people who posted my contract under the excuse of ‘political control’ and next to it posted a photo of my OnlyFans with the headline ‘8 million pesos for a prostitute without a degree’ knew that behind this account there is a mother who takes care of an autistic child, maybe, just maybe they would have thought twice before giving their opinion.”
Martínez continued, sharing that she has been targeted by “virtual hitmen” and that it could end up costing not just her life, but her 8-year-old son’s. She is considering moving from her current home because of threats like one posted online that featured an image of Martínez’s head sticking out of a suitcase.
She isn’t surprised by the threats. And she doesn’t blame her OnlyFans account, sharing “When I was given the opportunity to work with the State, I also knew this and I said it openly. But the real problem here is not my work, nor my private life, but the fact of supporting Gustavo Petro. That’s what really bothers me.”
Martínez has always been a vocal supporter of Petro. And the feeling is mutual, according to a source within the National Disaster Risk Management System. “Martínez Morales has been an active part of our political project. She was hired under all the legal requirements and has had experience in the work for which she was hired,” the source said.
Only time will tell if Martínez ends up being an asset to the department and fulfilling the role for which she was hired. In the meantime, it appears that she will continue to create content for her OnlyFans platform and sharing her political views on social media.
