Grok has a new “spicy” NSFW mode

Unlike many other generative AI platforms, xAI’s new Grok Imagine is openly courting users to create NSFW content through its image and video generator’s new “Spicy” mode. This setting allows the AI to produce sexualized imagery via text-based prompts or by modifying uploaded images, even generating short, seductive video clips complete with audio effects.

While Grok Imagine can create illustrations, photorealistic visuals, and animated imagery using text or voice prompts, it currently cannot generate videos from text descriptions alone. The platform offers four animation modes—Custom, Normal, Fun, and Spicy—which xAI CEO Elon Musk has described as something kids will love to tinker with.

Musk has compared the tool to a revival of “AI Vine,” referencing the short-form video platform he has long wanted to bring back. His built-in audience on X has quickly embraced it, using Grok Imagine to create everything from bikini-clad anime characters dancing in front of SpaceX rockets to photorealistic women flashing their breasts and genitals. Musk claims the platform has already generated over 34 million images.

Outlets like TechCrunch report that certain celebrity likenesses—such as Taylor Swift—are restricted, likely due to prior controversies over AI-generated sexualized images of her. However, Grok Imagine can still produce images of convincing lookalikes. Interestingly enough, when searching for “Taylor Swift AI” on the social media app, an error pops up.

Of note: Although the tool makes nude images and videos of women, it scales back when depicting nude men, as Musk’s demographic would (so the thinking goes) have little to no use for the function.

Currently, Imagine is available to SuperGrok and Premium Plus X subscribers through the Grok iOS app. Early access has begun rolling out for Android, but users report it’s limited to still images and lacks the video-generation feature.
