The iconic Yacht Rock duo is enjoying a bit of a tongue-in-cheek resurgence these days, but it’s telling that both (500) Days of Summer and Glee chose to feature the same song. The duo’s corny spin on classic soul filtered through ’80s pop radio may have served them well a few decades ago, but now it usually just seems either dated or outright grating, as if Pat Benatar decided she didn’t want to ruffle any more feathers.
