Jaleel Shaw

by

Highly regarded but under heralded, the saxophonist is an improviser who starts a solo and pulls his audience right along with him. There’s always a narrative being built through melody gambits, harmony maneuvers, and textural ploys. It’s hard not to fall for the sound of his alto, bulbous, soulful, and bruising, and the new The Soundtrack Of Things To Come reminds that milking the physical interplay is primary on his to-do list.
