Let’s go back to the old school for a minute. First up, Grandmaster Flash—who is probably old enough to be most club kids’ grandpa—is back on the decks for the Disgraceland party (co-masterminded by Larry Tee, Josh Wood, and the GBH folks). He tends to play the hits along with choice underground cuts to keep everyone happy. If the legendary Flash does not amuse you, go ogle the freaky club kids that have had the run of the place since they started the party. Thursday @ 10, Crobar, 530 W 28th, 212.629.9000

Ming & FS used to be dubbed “junkyard jungle” but that’s not entirely fair. While they do bring an “everything and the kitchen sink” mentality to their music, it’s not incongruous—after all jazz, hip-hop, and drum’n’bass flow together quite nicely. They are back, after starring in commercials, with their first record in two years, Back to One. They’ll be playing with DJ Spooky’s former MC Napoleon Maddox (OK, did anyone else know that Spooky even had an MC? Furthermore, does the MC spout semiotic theories? Kidding). The boys will be doing a live set with four turntables, bass and guitar, and beatboxing. Also performing are like-minded artists, tabla star Karsh Kale and Mission on Mars. Wednesday @ 8, Northsix, 66 N 6 St, Bklyn, 718.599.5103

Finally a benefit not for a politician! DJ Seoul of Direct Drive fame is putting on a benefit called Instrumental for the children, with the proceeds going to an after-school program in Red Hook. John Howard, a transplanted San Francisco deep house DJ, headlines the benefit, with Three, Bill Patrick, Stefny, and Scottie B also lending a hand to the cause. Thursday @ 10, Avalon, 662 Sixth Ave, 212.807.7780
