NIGHT LIGHTS

Keeping the anything-goes bohemian spirit of downtown alive and well, Earl Dax (who works with legendary drag star Joey Arias and whose outrageous Pussy Faggot events are a must) is starting a weekly mixer at Hotel Chantelle called Friends & Family. Given that it’s a school night, this will be a low-key affair intended for artists, club personalities, free spirits, and, as Dax puts it, “anyone else on a showgirl schedule.” This week’s lineup includes a DJ set by Kenny Mellman (of Kiki and Herb and Our Hit Parade), readings from the Birdsong Collective, and performances by singer-composer Julian Fleisher and Adrienne Truscott of the bawdy “neo-vaudevillian” duo the Wau Wau Sisters. Arrive early for bingo with Murray Hill and Linda Simpson.
